Dump Truck Chocolate Cake
The cutest dump truck chocolate cake for a little boy’s birthday party!
My sister Kimberly makes the most incredible cakes. She’s made funfetti cakes, engagement party cakes, mermaid cakes and more. So as Henry’s 3rd birthday rolled around, I was thrilled when she volunteered to make a construction site dump truck chocolate cake to celebrate.
Henry is totally obsessed with trucks and he absolutely loves a construction site. We’ve learned all of the heavy machinery truck names and he corrects us if we confuse a loader and an excavator. Kim used this as inspiration for a chocolate cake and my jaw totally dropped when she walked in with this stunner! She made a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, which was perfect for this little chocolate-loving 3 year old.
Kim used crushed and crumbled Oreos for the chocolate cake ‘dirt’ and added a cute mini construction and truck set for the toppers. The ‘dirt’ in the loader and excavator kills me! It’s so freakin’ adorable. And how sweet is the number 3 candle? I just can’t get over all of the love and detail that Kim put into this dump truck chocolate cake!
How to Make a Dump Truck Construction Site Birthday Cake
Frost with chocolate buttercream. Kim used this chocolate buttercream recipe.
Decorate with crushed Oreos (just crush and crumble them in a zip top bag) that look like dirt! Different sized chocolate crumbles make it look super realistic.
Add the cake toppers. Kim used a construction site truck set and my favorite detail is the Oreo ‘dirt’ in the loader and excavator. So many heart eyes.
Add a candle that matches the theme, like this number 3 candle
Keep cake in a cool place until serving. I like to serve it at room temp, but you can also keep in the refrigerator until serving.
What do you think? Isn’t this the most adorable cake you’ve ever seen?!
