Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Crostini Appetizer
This roasted garlic and goat cheese crostini appetizer is a fun, tangy party appetizer! Impress guests with this party food that can be put together easily and looks so pretty on a platter.
Many, many years ago, I published a recipe for roasted garlic and goat cheese crostini. This was when I was first blogging and didn't know anything about food photography. I know almost as much today, but I thought that this stellar recipe, tucked away in the archives really needed an update, especially before the biggest appetizer holiday of the year {at least it is in my family}. We made this for a party on Saturday {and by we, I mean Shaun} and I thought it was the perfect time to update the photos and get it back on your radar, in case you are still deciding what to make for Christmas or New Year's {!!!}.
This appetizer is actually incredibly easy but looks really impressive and elevated in the flavor department. You crisp up some baguette (or any bread you can find), roast up some garlic, right in the bulbs that are slathered with butter, spread on some goat cheese, top with the aforementioned garlic and it's a go. By roasting the garlic, it gets all soft and sweet and garlicky and glorious.
Your home will smell like garlic a LOT from all the roasting, but just open a window. It's a small price to pay.
Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Crostini
Ingredients
- 2 large heads garlic
- 4 oz herbed goat cheese
- 1 baguette
- 1-2 Tbsp butter
- cooking spray
- olive oil
- kosher salt
- ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Slice the baguette into thin slices and place on a foil-lined baking sheet.
- Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 7 minutes then turn the bread and bake 5 minutes more. Set aside.
- To roast the garlic, slice off the top part of the garlic - not the wide bottom, but the thin top so that the garlic cloves are exposed inside the peel.
- Place 1/2 Tbsp pat of butter on top of each head of garlic.
- Place buttered garlic face down in a small baking dish coated with cooking spray.
- Cover with aluminum foil and roast until garlic is browned and soft, about 30 minutes.
- To serve: Place everything on a platter. Spread goat cheese on crostini and pop out a roasted garlic clove from the bulb. Spread atop the goat cheese. Eat immediately.
I'm so glad that Shaun dusted off this recipe because it looked really rustic and festive and certainly get me wanting to break out this dish for more upcoming holiday parties! I hope you enjoy!
This is the best gluten-free cornbread stuffing recipe! For my fellow celiac and gluten intolerant friends, I promise this is as good, if not better, than the real thing.
