You need to know how to make a Halloween Charcuterie Board this season! Halloween Charcuterie Boards are fun to make, festive for every party and so good to eat! Check out this tutorial for how to make a super simple Halloween Charcuterie board that comes together in minutes.

My family has become a little bit obsessed with Halloween. It’s a holiday that I never cared much for until Shaun and I got married. He LOVES Halloween. No, like, he really really loves it. And once our kids got old enough to enjoy every holiday that they could decorate for and dress up for, we’ve all pretty much leaned in to all of it. We decorate the outside with cobwebs, a giant spider and this year, a life size skeleton. I put up my mom’s old Halloween light up ceramics in our entryway. I got this killer wreath that brings me an unsurpassed amount of joy when its lit up. We’ve got our costumes planned. I’d say we’re all in on Halloween.

And with Halloween comes so many events and activities. Our town goes particularly all out for the entire month of October. Lots of events and parties means one thing to me: lots of fun Halloween desserts. Enter the Halloween Charcuterie Board.

Halloween Charcuterie Boards are:

Fun

Colorful

Spooky

Delicious

A great last minute party gift

Filled with whatever YOU want.

Halloween Charcuterie Boards can be sweet. They can be savory. They can be spooky. They can be silly. But most of all? They pack a big, impressive punch for a very minimal amount of effort.

What You’ll Need to Make a Halloween Charcuterie Board:

  • Cookies

  • Brownies

  • Cupcakes

  • Candy - all different kinds - Kisses, M&Ms, chocolates, PB cups, etc.

  • Pretzels - bonus for chocolate or confectionary-coated pretzels

  • Popcorn - sweet and/or salty!

  • Marshmallows

  • Cheese

  • Crackers

  • Anything else you can think of!

Any combination of these things will result in a truly awesome Halloween Charcuterie Board. Make it personal. I love to add some larger items (like brownies and cookies) and then fill in with some of the smaller things like cookies and candy. I search the seasonal aisles (Target is particularly great for this) for interesting finds that are special and unexpected. Bright colors are always great to mix into your board. A balance of treats also helps make it fun for everyone…mix in some sweet and salty. Add some cheese with drizzled honey. Or keep it all desserts. You really can’t go wrong.

How to Make a Halloween Charcuterie Board

Start with a platter. Any size you want. I’ve used square platters and oblong platters. Circular platters are fun too. Whatever you have on hand will work great. I had picked up a spooky John Derrian skeleton platter at Target a couple years ago and it’s just the right size for a Halloween Charcuterie Board. Or candle board when I’m not using it for treats.

Place your larger items first. If you’re using brownies or mini cupcakes, lay those down first as they’ll take up the most real estate on the board. Place them as close together as possible.

Next, lay out any other large items. Cookies, marshmallows…anything that takes up space and won’t be used as a ‘fill in’ should be on the board at this time.

Spread out items by group. So if the brownies are in the top left corner, maybe place cookies in the bottom right and cupcakes in the top right. Or place the cookies diagonally in the top right corner. Move things around until it looks balanced and delicious.

Fill in with the smaller treats. Now that you have the bones of your Halloween Charcuterie Board, so to speak, you’ll want to start filling in the gaps with colorful candy, cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and any other items you have.

Ensure there are no gaps. It doesn’t have to be perfect - cram everything together into an organized mess so that it all looks full and inviting! Absolutely nothing about your Halloween Charcuterie Board needs to be perfect - the more random the better.

So there you have it - some tips to make your own Halloween Charcuterie Board. What do you think? Would you give this a try? I can’t wait to try a savory one next!
