Pizza Dip Recipe
This pizza dip recipe is the only dish you need to welcome in fall football season! Pizza dip is the most requested dish I’ve ever made, and surprise, it’s also the easiest! It’s a perfect party food for all gatherings and especially football Sunday!
Ah this pizza dip recipe! Can we just take a moment for how amazing it is? I don’t even know if I can articulate how amazingly cheesy, saucy, creamy and delicious it is. It’s the perfect dish for every party. It’s fast, inexpensive, can be served very hot or room temp, and it reheats like a dream. Of all the recipes, dishes and baked goods that I’ve ever made, this is by far the most beloved and most requested party dish. Just be aware, pizza dip disappears almost as quickly as it’s made.
Pizza dip has been a part of so many gatherings over the years…from college nights and sleepovers to football Sundays and family parties. No matter what other dishes I make, I always come back to pizza dip, especially as the weather cools down.
Ingredients for Pizza Dip
Cream cheese
Tomato sauce
Shredded mozzarella (the bag of shredded mozz is fine!)
Pepperoni (if you want!)
Oregano for some extra pizza flavor
How to Make Pizza Dip
Gather your ingredients. You’ll only need a few: cream cheese, tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni and some oregano if you’re feeling extra pizza-y. Oh and pizza dip requires dippers and my dipper of choice are tortilla scoops.
You'll also need a pie plate, to make it look like a pizza pie! You can make this in any baking dish or pan you have on hand, but I make it in a pie plate because it looks pretty and fun.
Start by spreading the softened cream cheese into the bottom of the pie plate.
Spread on some store-bought marinara sauce. I always have Rao’s from Costco on hand because it’s got simple ingredients, no extra sugar and tasted delicious.
If you’re feeling extra pizza-y, you can sprinkle some oregano on top of the sauce.
Use a full bag of shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese mix (mozzarella and provolone) to sprinkle evenly all over the sauce.
Next up is the pepperoni. Any pepperoni will do, I typically use turkey pepperoni to keep it from getting too oily. Layer the pepperoni on top of the cheese. Don’t like pepperoni? Pizza dip is great without it, or with vegetarian toppings too!
Bake the pizza dip in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
Let cool slightly and devour with scoop tortilla chips.
I’ve made this hundreds of times over the years and I’m so excited to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Pizza Dip
Ingredients
- 8oz. cream cheese
- 1 1/4 C tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 - 2 C mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 C pepperoni
- 1/4 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- tortilla chips, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spread cream cheese in bottom of 9 inch pie plate, or similar oven-safe baking dish (a foil pan also works!).
- Pour tomato sauce over cream cheese. Add onions in an even layer on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle basil and oregano over the sauce.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese to cover the sauce entirely.
- Lay pepperoni on top of cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melty, brown and bubbly.
- Devour immediately atop a scoop-style tortilla chip.
Notes:
You can use fresh basil if available instead of dried. This is my favorite way, but fresh basil isn’t always on hand outside of the summer months.
I prefer turkey pepperoni because I like the texture and it’s less greasy. Yes, you can use regular pepperoni but it may be a bit more greasy.
This roasted garlic and goat cheese crostini appetizer is a fun, tangy party appetizer! Impress guests with this party food that can be put together easily and looks so pretty on a platter.
